The Philippine National Police (PNP) has nabbed the four of the seven most wanted criminals of the Philippines, while the other three were killed in separate police operations.
Abu Sayyaf member Jul Wahid “Abu Jul,” Hadji Teng Usman “Hadji Tohame Usman,” Edgardo Molina “Ka Dong” amd Gemmanena Opeña “Rowena” Ocfemia were arrested in Cotabato City in Mindanao last August.
Wahid was wanted for kidnapping, while Usman was accounted for multiple murder and multiple frustrated murder in connection with bombing incidents in Kidapawan City. Molina has a warrant of arrest for murder and multiple frustrated murder and Opeña has warrant of arrest for rebellion.
Meanwhile, the three most wanted men killed in encounters were Rolando Pamorada, who was the Communist Party of the Philippines or New People’s Army Southern Tagalog Finance Officer, Edres Sabak “Faisal Ampuan”, suspect in Kidapawan City bombing in 2007, and Ben Raffy “Abdulkarim Salim, another Abu Sayyaf member who was wanted for kidnapping in connection with Lamitan Siege in Basilan.
Chief Superintendent Generoso Cerbo, PNP spokesperson, said that they need to strengthen their police community relations to improve their operations.
“Kung alam nila, dapat shineshare nila sa pulis para as I was against anti crime campaign, yung ugnayan ng PNP sa barangay officials nang sa ganun magiging mabilis yung responde natin sa criminal elements,” Cerbo said in an interview. “Responsibilidad ng lahat as citizen ‘yung tunulong sa ating pamalaan with or without the reward money, ‘wag sana natin masyadong mag-rely sa monetary compensation.”
A total of P4.25 million reward was given by PNP to seven informants who led to the arrest of the criminals.
He added that P8.99 million cash reward were received by 41 tipsters for the seizing of 46 top most wanted persons for the six months of the year.
PNP arrested 16,000 criminals in the first half of the year, Cerbo said, which meant P2.335M to informants who led to their arrest.
The Directorate for Intelligence administered the amounts from the PNP’s reward system.
