Your Soul is a Sunset
By Bjorn Biel Beltran
Your soul is a sunset Of love-struck oranges and lonesome blues. You carry with you the madness of passions just above the horizon, And the brokenness of a shattered glass of stars. The dreamers, they gaze longingly. The fools, they seek to know. Will they ever— will I? Your eyes are the skies That threaten to fall away at the edges, Though they hold the world, In bits of gold and silver when they welcome the night. Your words are the clouds that skirt around your frame, In malevolent pinks and sombre greys, And line the breath of your mind just along the horizon. I am the wind that chases after you. I. A raindrop, that barely pulls at the strands of your hair, is the flood at your feet. II. A swordsman knows not to extend his weapon too far; the distance is heavy. III. Ashes fly, carried by the wind like seeds; grey petals from embers of stone oaks. |
As I Lie DownBy Patrishia Anne Yap
I lie down tonight Under the translucent moon As it whispers to me what is due For a gentleman like you I lie down tonight The starry sky looking down Upon a heart that is cold As cold as the breeze of a winter night A hopeful prayer to the heavens To keep the love alive That fire may ignite On those hazel brown eyes I lie down tonight Feeling the warmth of your touch And I leave you with kind words To help you make a start Tomorrow I am to be with the wise Fear not the clouds for they will be kind As the sun sets remember you were once mine The dark sky will be a memory of time. |
