La Salle leads race in UAAP overall championship

Will De La Salle University stop the University of Santo Tomas from getting its 15th straight over-all UAAP crown?
La Salle is currently the lead in the general championship tally in the first semester of UAAP Season 75, ahead by only seven points from perennial champs UST.
After bagging the titles for Women’s Taekwondo and Women’s Table Tennis events, La Salle accumulated a total of 152 points. UST comes second, with 145 points.
UST, on the other hand, bagged the crown in the Women’s Beach Volleyball, Men’s Taekwondo, Men’s Table Tennis, and the Men’s and Women’s Judo events.
La Salle increased their over-all score by finishing second in the Women’s Basketball, Men’s Taekwondo, Men’s Swimming, and Men’s Table Tennis events, and finishing third in Men’s and Women’s Badminton, Women’s Beach Volleyball and Women’s swimming.
Landing the third spot is the University of the Philippines with 110 points, while Ateneo de Manila trails behind them at 106 points.
UP got the title for Women’s Swimming and finished second in the Women’s Table Tennis, and the Men’s and Women’s Judo events.
Ateneo came close to UP by besting in the Men’s Basketball, Women’s Badminton, and Men’s Swimming events.
Rounding up the list are the Far Eastern University with 88 points, season 75 host National University with 69 points, University of the East with 62, and Adamson University with 51.
For each event, teams are given 15 points by finishing first place, 12 points for second, and 10 points for third place. Fourth to seventh placers are given eight, six, four and two points correspondingly. Eighth placers are given one point.
Upcoming second semester sports include baseball, softball, volleyball, footbal, tennis, track and field, fencing and chess.
